Certificate Program in Financial Engineering
(for students admitted prior to Summer 2007)

Offering the professional the most recent innovations and technological advancements in their respective field. CVN now offers a Certificate of Financial Engineering. Please refer to the Certificate requirements below. Please note that some courses listed below may have pre-requisites. Please consult course syllabi for more information.

Required Courses for FE Certificate:

· IEOR E4706: Financial Engineering: Discrete Time Asset Pricing
(Formerly known as: “Financial Engineering I”)

· IEOR E4707: Financial Engineering: Continuous Time Asset Pricing
(Formerly known as: “Financial Engineering II”)

· IEOR E4703: Monte Carlo Simulation

Electives (1 of the following list of courses):

· IEOR E4007: Optimization

· SIEO W4606: Elementary Stochastic Processes

· IEOR E4106: Intro to OR: Stochastic Models

· IEOR E4709: Data Analysis for Financial Engineers

· IEOR E4003: Industrial Economics

· IEOR E4403: Advanced Corporate Finance

· IEOR E6703 Advanced Financial Engineering (with approval)

Candidates for the Certificate of Professional Achievement Program must complete the program of study as defined by the appropriate department. Program requirements for completion of these Certificate Programs is listed below:

· 4 Graduate-level classes all earned through CVN, under non-degree (Video Special) student status. Students currently in any degree program at Columbia University are not eligible for the Certificate Program through CVN.

· Minimum of 12 credit points

· Minimum GPA of 3.0

· Completion of program within two (2) calendar years.

Credits earned to fulfill the requirements of a Certificate Program may be applied toward an MS or PD degree, subject to the approval of an Academic Advisor. However, students must apply for admission to the University and meet all admissions requirements. Entry into, and completion of a Certificate Program does not ensure acceptance into an MS or PD program.
